Product Description

"Korean Simple Suite" No.1 For String Orchestra Op.267B is consist of 5 movements.
All piece's main theme is generally based on Korean(Oriental) pentatonic tone(Do, Re, Mi, Sol, La). Originaly, This work was composed for Violin and Piano and Dedicated to Andreas Buschatz, former Concertmaster of Berlin Phil. and Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. After, transcribed for String Orchestra.

All piece's main theme is generally based on Oriental pentatonic tone (Do, Re, Mi, Sol, La).
1st movement(Prologue-Greeting) is just for a Greeting. And for 2nd movement(Oriental Flute), there is especially natural harmonics is used for special tone effect, to express Oriental flute sound. and for 3rd movement(Cheerfulness), adapted Korean Traditional rhythm, for example, such as "Kutkuri" "Jajinmori". 4th movement(Sorrow) is major key, but it has a deep sorrow. For Finale(Festival), Rondo form is used, and Korean Traditional Children's song is adapted as main Theme. This Suite(for Violin and Piano) was World premiered by prof Kyung-sun Lee(Violin), and prof. Hee-sung Ju(Piano), at the Seoul Art Center(IBK Chamber Hall) on the day of 1, June. 2019.
This Music was world premiered(prof. Han-ki Kim Retirement Commemorative Concert), by the Korean Ascolti Chamber Ensemble(conductor Hyunsuk Jang) on June 15, 2019 at the Daegu Concert House Chamber Hall.
This music transcribed for Cello and Piano was a Competition Repertorie Requirement of Tennessee Cello Workshop(2021.2.26.-28), University of Tennessee, School of Music. Additionally, the original piece for violin and piano has been studied and published as a doctoral dissertation, and is a piece loved by many performers.
