One of the most popular and best-loved of all Spanish Folksongs, "El Vito", with its pithy two-line 'copla' typical of Southern Spain, was used by F. G. Lorca in his plays - with additional words, and set to music by Gustavo Pittaluga. It was brilliantly arranged for voice and piano by both Joaquin Nin and Fernando Obradors, and for guitar by the likes of Paco de Lucia and Regino Sainz de la Maza. My version for voice and guitar is an 'homenaje' ('homage') to these great artists. It's got pace; it's got drama - it's a foot-stomping Spanish classic! The lyrics: "An old woman costs a Real, a young girl [just] two Quarters. But, I, as I'm poor, go for the cheapest!"
