My Dear Acquaintance (Happy New Year) was written by Peggy Lee and pianist Paul Horner for her 1983 Broadway musical, 'Peg. Peg was a flop and the tune was cut from the show. Ms Lee recorded My Dear Acquaintance in 1983 but it was not released until 2006. This song found new life in Regina Spektors 2007 cover. The spirit of this song is in that of a good old drinking song and a toast to the celebration: "Raise a glass and well have a cheer" is a great way to welcome in the New Year. This arrangement is scored for a vocal duet [soprano & bass] with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 2:08+
