A lively version of a favourite "echo" song, where the two voices swap parts each verse and their lines criss-cross: conductor, keep your wits about you!It rises in pitch twice in its four verses, otherwise the music remains the same. This will make it very easy to learn in one session and great fun to sing. It's based on a song collected and arranged in the early 20th century by Cecil Sharp, who - as he did with so much of what he arranged, to make it suitable for schools and polite company - "cleaned up" the original words. Hint: it wasn't about deer at all! -
