This composition is a tribute to the other three players in my schools Sophomore Brass Quartet that performed at Solo & Small Ensemble Festival in 2025. We found the music we played to be boring, so I made it my goal to compose this song for 2026's festival, and to give it a familiar feel. The title of this piece roughly translates from German to "My Dearest Homeslices" (emphasis on roughly), a term I use often call close friends. Hausstück, which is not an official German word but rather a combination of Haus (Home) and Stück (Piece or Slice), adds to the informality I try to exhibit when composing.
