Product Description

This four-movement composition is a musical interpretation of the Order of the Catholic Mass, expressed through the voices of strings, piano, and bells. Each movement captures the spiritual and emotional journey of the liturgyfrom gathering and repentance to hearing the Word, celebrating the Eucharist, and being sent forth in peace.

The solo instruments symbolize the key figures within the Mass:

Violin I the Cantor, who leads the people in song and prayer
Violin II the First Lector, proclaiming the Word
Viola the Second Lector, offering reflection and depth
Cello the Priest, guiding and blessing the assembly
The string orchestra embodies the congregation, while piano and bells evoke the sacred space of the church and the presence of the divine.

I. Introductory Rites
The work opens with a spirit of reverence and welcome, as the community gathers for worship. The solo violin and cellocantor and priestexchange musical phrases of prayer and invitation, surrounded by the orchestras gentle harmonies. Piano and bells shimmer softly, symbolizing the light of God calling the faithful together.

II. The Liturgy of the Word
The second movement reflects on the proclamation of Scripture. Each soloist becomes a voice of the sacred dialogue: the violin I as the cantor, violin II and viola as the first and second lectors, and the cello as the priest. The orchestra listens and responds, while shifting harmonies mirror the unfolding of divine revelation.

III. The Liturgy of the Eucharist
At the center of the work lies the mystery of the Eucharist. The cello, as priest, leads the sacred offering, while the other soloists join in dialogue and thanksgiving. The violin I and II share a duet of unity and grace; afterward, the viola and cello answer one another with quiet Amens. The orchestra supports in reverent stillness, with piano and bells illuminating the transformation that takes place upon the altar.

IV. The Concluding Rites
The final movement begins with the Closing Prayer, led by the cello (priest) and answered by the ensemble in peace. A gentle first song arises from the orchestra, expressing gratitude and renewal. The four soloists then join together in a quartet, symbolizing the harmony of all voices in faith. Finally, the entire ensemble unites in a radiant final song, a joyful hymn of sending forth. The piece ends in quiet luminosity, echoing the words, Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.
