For All the Saints
William Walsham How, 1864
Music by Ken Litton (ASCAP)
S(S)ATB with Keyboard
Some churches will never sing the Vaughan Williams tune because of style, lack of organist or capable accompanist, etc. but might utilize this alternative version for All Saints Day (or general) to express the historic and wonderful text of For All the Saints that may well bein more congregations than we thinkin the process of being relegated to history.
The original four Alleluias progress from just two in the beginning and building on to 3, then 4 and then one more (plus some more for the ending).
The supportive accompaniment is about as playable as is possible and the vocal parts limited to S(S)ATB (the alternate part always being horizontally across (that is, on the same pitch). But, at the same it carries some of the imaging and text painting.
The vocal ranges are advanced intermediate, but not excessive and with options such as a choice of solid, dramatic endings.
East of the Altar/Artist of Note arrangements are designed for choirs of medium ability, but of large interest in leading worship, exhorting believers and making disciples. Each is offered with true choral, accompaniment and stylistic integrity in voicings and ranges that set the melodies and harmoniesand, most importantly the textin a singable and playable version that can be achieved within less than desirable rehearsal limitations.
