Silverio Perez, who began his career as a bullfighter following the death of his brother, caused by a goring during a bullfight, was also mayor of his hometown, where he greatly contributed to the prestige of another important figure in the history of the city and of Mexico as a whole: Nezahualcoyotl, the "poet and warrior king" of the 15th century.
