Gustav Holst's 1919 choral anthem, "Turn Back, O Man," arranged for Concert Band. Holst adapted the setting of the 124th Psalm from the Geneva Psalter for this text as a rebuke of the First World War. The text reads as a call to abandon warfare and conflict, so that "Earth might be fair, and all her people one." The ostinato bassline keeps a grand, almost martial sense of movement throughout, and the melody moves throughout the rest of ensemble. Suitable for sacred, secular, and school settings.
