Weve Only Just Begun actually originated as music for a wedding-themed television commercial for Crocker-Citizens National Bank in California, sung by Paul Williams. Its gentle, optimistic tone was meant to appeal to young newlyweds starting out in life, and the commercials popularity led the Carpenters to seek out a full version of the song for their second single.Richard Carpenter recognized Williamss voice from the ad and worked with Nichols and Williams to expand the song into a full-length track. Released in August 1970, the Carpenters version features Karen Carpenters iconic lead vocals and lush harmonies, quickly becoming one of their signature songsThe song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and is considered both a pop standard and a classic wedding anthem due to its heartfelt lyrics about the journey of building a life together. Here is an arrangement for two clarinets. A score and separate parts are provided.Click here for more of my clarinet duets
