Dolphin Dance appeared on Herbie Hancock's 1965 album "Maiden Voyage" and has become a much loved standard. This saxophone quartet arrangement has plenty in it to keep all the members of the quartet well and truely on their toes. There is a lot of detail, dynamic contrast and opportunity to explore the blend of sound and tone colour within the group. Scored for two altos tenor and baritone the arrangment preserved the laid-back groove of the original whilst weaving complex lines around the shifting harmony. There is optional solo space for alto or tenor and this section can be repeated if soloists want to take several choruses. Graded advanced plus, this chart will go down well with audiences whilst challenging your ensemble.
