"At The Hop" reached number one on the Billboard charts becoming one of the top-selling singles of 1958. It also hit number one on the R&B Best Sellers list. The song was later performed at the 1969 Woodstock Festival and was featured in the comedy film American Graffiti in 1973. Musically, it combines the twelve-bar blues, boogie-woogie, and the 1950s progression which, when combined as a fingerstyle solo on guitar, makes it a challenge as there are basically two things going on at the same time."At The Hop" is originally played at the extremely fast tempo of 192 bpm but I have set it at a more manageable 148 bpm which to me sounds fast enough. However, you are welcome to play it faster if you can. And, if you want to play it in the original key of Ab just put a cap on the 4th fret.
