Product Description

The authors of this song are not completely confirmed. In 1830, Sarah Josepha Hale published the song and claims she wrote it based on an actual experience when she was a teacher. In 1876, Mary Tyler of Sterling, Massachusetts claimed the song was about her. The melody is based on the refrain of "Goodnight, Ladies" written by Edwin Pearce Christy in 1847. This song has been a classic for children to learn for decades. This arrangement makes the song more approachable for less experienced players. It includes optional note names, an easier key, and valve position numbers to assist in learning it.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
