SWEET CAROLINE (Neil Diamond) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleDerek Hasted writes "This is a piece that will have audiences stamping their feet and aching to sing along with it - indeed by lowering the key by a tone, the top note of the tune becomes a D which should be a comfortable high note for all types of voices, so maybe they will join in...The dynamics on the score marry up with the original official video, building in the choruses. If you play in a large ensemble, make sure to use the full dynamic range of your guitar so that collectively, the piece builds and decays the most it can.Its entirely in swing rhythm and Guitar 4 has the bottom string tuned to D so that all the bass notes are deep and satisfying. There is an optional part for a bass guitar - the added depth and sustain make this piece yet more sublime, but with just guitars, this will be a bigger sound than you might expect. There's no need to tune down in the bass clef version - it's deep enough as it is.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by "number of instruments", with links to soundclips and sample score.
