Written for the Akropolis Quintet, Temple uses the Phrygian Dominant mode and mixed meter to evoke the feeling of losing yourself in an ancient ruin, finding something you weren't supposed to see, and running for your life to escape. The piece contains Latin rhythms and a mode said to sound "middle-eastern", creating a soundscape wholly different to traditional, European classical music.
