Prelude on "Sweet Sacrament Divine" is an organ work based on a beautiful hymn composed by Fr. Francis Stanfield, who also composed the text when he was parish priest of Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane, in the Archdiocese of Westminster (London, England), during the late 19th century. This prelude is a meditation on the presence of Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament, and is suitable especially for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, as well as all Sundays of the Liturgical year, and all celebrations which focus on the Holy Eucharist. The prelude conveys a sense of mystery as well as the profound sense of awe, love and joy when visiting the Blessed Sacrament, who is Christ, hidden in the Tabernacle.
