The Prelude in C# of Bach's Well-tempered Clavier, Book 2, is a charming and relatively little-known piece from the Well-tempered Clavier, useful for weddings, high school solo and ensemble performances, and other occasions. The violin part is very busy throughout the first section, but the tempo is not fast. The viola and cello parts are much simpler until the Allegro. There are no original dynamic markings in this piece, so you have a blank slate of interpretive gestures to enjoy exploring. The initial tempo marking is editorial, but the Allegro is Bach's indication. The recording is an automated rendering of the string trio version and included here just for reference and to spark your imagination about probable tempo.A number of the preludes and fugues in Bach's Well-tempered Clavier are suitable for string trio with occasional adaptations.
