Ideal for the KS3 classroom, this keyboard arrangement of Bizet's much-loved operatic aria with letter names can be played by one student using both hands, or by two students working in a pair and learning one hand each. The addition of rehearsal letters allows the piece to be separated into shorter 'projects' and potentially spread over several lessons. Some of the more complex rhythms of the original have been modified to avoid cross-rhythms whilst still retaining energy and a good level of challenge. The dotted rhythms and chromatic melodies create drama and the sharing of the melody between left and right hand will keep both hands/students busy! This piece can be used to demonstrate dotted rhythms, chromatic scales, and features of a closely related dance: the Tango.
