I have arranged this this timeless classic for Flute and Piano, because the wonderful melodic line seems to fit the Flute beautifully. Composed by Debussy in 1910, shortly after the publication of his first set of preludes, I have arranged it into B flat from the original G flat major, but a small section goes into D flat major. The Piano part overall has been trimmed down considerably especially large stretches, but yet still provides a good amount of support. The Flute has a range of 2 and a half octaves.I wanted the piece to be more of a duet between Flute and Piano rather than a dominant lead line, and there is a great amount of rubato. However, I have placed it at Intermediate level, but ultimately it is for teachers and performers to decide, so the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. It is 5 mins 30 in length and would be a great addition to a concert, recital or indeed something different to add to any repertoire.
