Ernesto Köhler was a virtuoso flautist at the end of the 19th century and he wrote more than 100 works for the flute, plus ballets and an opera. His Blumen-Walzer (Flower Waltz) is typical of the bright, cheery, dance-like music that you would expect of a Viennese waltz. Here it is with the original piano part arranged for string quintet by Philip Le Bas.
