Romantic composer Jules Massenet is best known for writing over 30 operas, but one of his most enduring and beloved melodies is his Élégie. Originally composed for piano in 1872, it was later adapted as incidental music for the play Les Érinnyes (The Furies) in 1873, and later gained popularity as a song for voice, cello, and piano. This new edition features the horn in place of the cello, beautifully capturing the spirit of the emotional and lamenting lyrics. It opens with a solo horn passage, followed by expressive interplay between the voice, horn, and piano. This version is set in F minor and encompasses a vocal range from middle B3 to F5.Includes Piano/Vocal part and Horn partAn F minor version of Élégie for High Voice, Horn in F, and Piano (#12507) is also available from your local music retailer and LCHmusic.com.
