A new arrangement by Philip Le Bas of the dance of the "Montagues and Capulets", which forms the central part of Sergei Prokofiev's well-known orchestral score to his ballet "Romeo and Juliet". It is arranged here for wind sextet: flute, oboe, clarinet in Bb, horn in F, bass clarinet in Bb and bassoon. The two families are dead set against each other. Their belligerent pride is evident from the very start of the famous main theme. However, the middle section projects a mysterious, softer theme, hinting that there is more to these families than just stridency. The dance is the first of four movements from a full 16-minute Mini-Suite by the arranger, which is also available on this website.
