Nikolai Tcherepnin (1873 - 1945) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. Born in St. Petersburg to a wealthy family, he earned his law degree before earning his degree in music composition under the direction of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and a degree in piano.Six Quatours Op35 was written in 1910 for 4 French horns. At this time, Tcherepnin was employed at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where he taught music conducting. This is a beautiful piece that I thought would be appreciated by people who play other instruments. This piece can be played by musicians with intermediate skill, but the counting is a little tricky here and there, and it may take some practice to keep notes aligned in rhythmically identical passages. All in all, it's a lovely piece that I hope your quartet and audience will enjoy.Scored for 4 Bb or 1 Eb and 3 Bb clarinets.Duration: 11 minutes
