Mirror Image is an extended 3-movement piano suite. It comprises of movements entitled Recollections, Reflections, & From S to Z (all also available individually from Sheet Music Plus). The first movement hauntingly explores 'recollections' of the opening triplet motif in various guises, both melodically and as an accompaniment figure. Liberal use of the sustain pedal and added-note harmonies give the work a rather impressionistic feel. The second movement is preoccupied with forms of musical reflection, and principally uses symmetry to create harmonies. Multiple sections explore various aspects of this theme, in contrasting textures. The third movement is stark and simple, and explores the use of flickering octaves with liberal use of the sustain pedal, to depict shimmering light and movement. This movement is inspired by the walk along the South West Coastal Path in England and attempts to plot the dramatic section 'from St. Ives to Zennor' (hence 'S to Z'). In general, the Mirror Image suite is highly accessible and can be performed by students as well as more advanced players.Duration: 11 minutes 35 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
