"Blackbird" is a song by the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney, credited to the LennonMcCartney duo, and released on the 1968 "White Album". The song was recorded on 11 June 1968 by McCartney alone.Origins of creation:McCartney revealed on the 2005 programme Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road that the guitar accompaniment was inspired by "Bourée in E minor", a well-known funeral piece by Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach's music was originally for classical guitar, and Paul and George Harrison had tried to learn it in their youth. It is therefore characterised by the melody of low bass notes played simultaneously with high and low strings. McCartney decided to alter some of Bach's notes, creating the basis for Blackbird.
