Product Description

Dame Ethel Smyth, composer, conductor, Suffragette, first woman composer awarded the British title of Damehood in 1922, composed her "Mass in D Major" in 1893 for orchestra and chorus with the dramatic "Sanctus" movement incorporating thrilling boldness moments contrasted with those of calm serenity, arranged for brass choir with prominent scoring for horns and trombones.
The brass choir arrangement is scored for four B-flat trumpets with alternate C trumpet parts, two horns in F, three trombones and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition.
