The theme of trying to find your place in the world is perennial, as illustrated by these two songs, one from a musical, the other from a stage show, written nearly 5 decades apart. The doubts and questions expressed in 'What Was I Made For?' provide a wistful opening and a stronger, driving middle section, setting up the sense of purpose in 'Corner of the Sky'. The groove and melodic styling is informed by the Jackson 5 version of the latter, and both songs are lightly reharmonised to customise them to the requirements of contest barbershop (BHS system). It is a challenging sing, both in terms of vocal range and imaginative engagement, written for an ambitious group with a strong artistic identity.Vocal Ranges:Tenor: E4 - G5Lead: A3 - E5Bari: A4 - D5Bass: D3 - G4
