This piece for mezzo-soprano/tenor and flute helps to develop a strong sense of ensemble playing via entrances, tuning, dynamics and musicality. This particular arrangement gives the traditional Irish melody and words by W. B. Yeats to the mezzo-soprano while the flute plays a fantasia type of obligato above and around the soloist. The flute player also has some beautiful solo fantasia sections which are such a delight. The piece sounds tonal. It is however peppered by frequent modulations (tonal shifts) which are created via changing key signatures creating a tonal fluidity. This piece which sounds tonal does not necessarily start and end in the same tonal area. A beautiful recital piece. Audiences will love it.Level/Grade: Grade 8 Duration: 04:21Style: Folk song with Fantasia Form: Strophic Tonality: tonal; various keysWebsite: www.elflauto.ca
