Johann Strauss jr. composed this polka francaise processing motives from the operetta "A Night in Venice", especially from the song of same name in the 3rd final. It was first performed in 1884 in the Vienna "Volksgarten" conducted by his youngest brother Eduard. This transcription was commissioned by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg, chief conductor Hansjoerg Angerer and first performed at their New Year's Concert at January 6th 2017 at "Großes Festspielhaus" in Salzburg, Austria.
