"From A Distance" was an international success for recording artist Bette Midler in 1990. The Gulf War and world events at that time gave the song a very personal meaning for the masses. This song is one of hope and peace that effectively uses a very simple but beautiful melody. At the very end of this arrangement, the melodic motif repeats itself 3 times: like an echo --- while decrescendo-ing and fading away to a whisper. This is to remind us all that sometimes, for a better perspective, we might need to step back and look at things from a distance.
