This fantasia is based on the Gregorian chant hymn Ave Maris Stella. It's a polyphonic piece where every line of the chant is treated in imitative counterpoint, like in a fugue. To create more colour, the keys change periodically and dynamic range expands from mezzo piano to fortissimo. This composition will be very effective in liturgical organ playing and concert programs when music to honor Virgin Mary is desired. Dedicated to James Flores.
