In one sense, parsimonious can mean frugal/stingy or restrained - I hope the reflection of restraint is well-balanced here. Parsimonious can also be used to build cool science-y graphs with branched elements that show the connection. I suppose thats why a theorist called chords that share two of the same notes as parsimonious. We could spend hours drawing graphs and geeking out over chords, or I can invite you to hear Parsimonious Prelude. This work winds through a journey of colorful harmonic transformations. As you listen, some connections between chords will feel familiar, and others, well, they might share notes between the chords - but they evoke a dramatic change - even though the change is only one note.
