Originally written for and recorded by the Regional New South Wales ensemble the 'Assai Quartet' (comprsing flute, violin, acoustic guitar, and bassoon), Allegro 'Assai' (titled after the ensemble) is one of Kara's first compositons chamber group, and combines a gentle pastural sensibility with quirky harmonic and melodic twists. The gentle interplay between the instruments weaves a joyous earworm that engages both performers and audience from start to finish.This arrangement for Woodwind Quintet is by the composer, Kara Williams; an Australian woodwind multi-instrumentalist and foundation member of the Assai Quartet (bassoon). Aimed at intermediate+ to more accomplished players, this 3'50" work is a perfect little addition to any program.
