My Variations on Holiness ("Take Time to Be Holy") require a wide range of technical prowess from near beginner (Variation II) to advanced (Variation IV). The Theme presents the unadorned hymn tune, but with a new harmonization. Variation I is a canon in which the imitative entries for each phrase occur at varying intervals. In Variation II (for the hands only) the unadorned tune is accompanied by an unrelenting stream of sixteenth notes in the relative minor key. In Variation III (entitled "Pastorale") each phrase of the tune is preceded by a freely composed introductory segment. The final variation (entitled "Toccata") is by far the most challenging. It moves at a rapid tempo in 5/8 meter with individual phrases of the tune appearing sporadically, often in an ornamented guise. I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process. I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.
