This solo sermon song is based on one line of a sermon delivered by Dr. Paul de Jong at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers Florida on July 23, 2023. The text from Numbers 35: 1-35 on "A Place of Refuge" gave great detail on how Moses set up a judicial code to take care of various criminals. There was no music there. However, when Dr. de Jong repeated the phrase," Why does God love you; because He loves you." I was inspired to compose this song. It is a solo for either a female or a male an octave lower, with a piano accompaniment that supports the haunting melody. It has three verses and a moving chorus following each verse. The second verse proclaims the Gospel from Romans 3:28 and the third verse is a variation from John 3:16. I would hope and pray that soloists all over the world will be singing this as special music in the near future.
