After the aphoristic Three Miniatures, Op. 5, of 1984, Solo was written in 1996 as a larger unaccompanied piece in which the soloist can showcase his emotional and instrumental range of expression. In spite of being influenced by Jazz, it clearly shows Rogls classical polyphonic style with obvious joy in using all kinds of different rhythmical varieties.
