SUMMERTIME from PORGY AND BESS for TRUMPET AND ALTO SAXOPHONE DUET - Generally regarded as one of Gershwins finest songs, Summertime was composed for his opera Porgy and Bess in 1934. The jazz and spiritual influenced aria is a lullaby for Clara to sing to her child in act 1, and is reprised several times throughout the opera. The song has gone on to be one of Gershwins most popular compositions with thousands of versions being made and recorded. This arrangement is for Bb Trumpet and Alto Saxophone duet, but for a more mellow sound-world the trumpet part could be played on Flugelhorn instead. The score format is a double stave displaying both parts and the set includes 2 copies. Difficulty level : Intermediate/Advanced.
