Major Graham Seton-Hutchinson of the British Army Machine Gun Corps, 33rd Division, is known to be The Mad Major. A true military tactician, Seton-Hutchinsons exploits during World War I earned him the Distinguished Service Order and the Military Cross. Alfords march is a tribute to Seton-Hutchinsons actions. The Mad Major takes a unique musical form with bouncy melodies, singing lyrical lines, and just a little bit of the classic pomp British marches are known for.
