Ave Maria was published in 1853 as Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de S. Bach. The melody was composed by the French Romantic composer Charles Gounod, who superimposed over slightly changed version of the Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from Book I of J. S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier. The lyrics - Latin prayer Ave Maria was not the origianal poem Gounod intended. This recording converted the vocal part into piano instrumental. Ultimately it is the melody that is giving the prominent beauty. Arranged and performed by Canadian pianist Lisa Ruping Cheng. ISRC QZHZ32055186
