Melodie uses nothing more intricate than dotted eighth-sixteenth rhythms. It is written as a flute duet in concert Ab major. Written in ABA form it opens with a lilting flute 1 melody against a contrapuntal flute 2 part. The B section is much more flowing and dynamically softer in the relative minor key. This is an excellent piece to use to teach contrasting styles and accurate articulation. This would make a great addition to any school concert or community program.
