You and I, by Stevie Wonder, works superbly for bass trombone when played in the same key as the version sung by bass-baritone Thomas Quasthoff (on The Jazz Album), which is the key of this arrangement. However, there is still plenty of scope here for your own interpretation of this number. In my recording (go to SoundCloud to hear it), the keyboard keeps strict time (apart from at the end), but you may prefer to have you accompanist follow your phrasing. The piece can be shortened by omitting one verse (as in the version by Michael Bublé).This arrangement is also ideal for euphonium (treble clef part also included). It can even be played on tenor trombone (F valve not essential), bassoon, cello or bass clarinet, but then you might need to work harder to get that bass-baritone sound. You can listen to a full length recording of this piece on SoundCloud.
