Product Description

A classic song from the Duke Ellington Orchestra arranged for a four horn jazz ensemble: Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone (doubling on Soprano Saxophone), Trumpet, Trombone and Rhythm Section (Guitar, Piano, Drums and Bass or Tuba).

Famous for the Bubber Miley distorted - "talking" - Trumpet parts, the arrangement boils down what Ellington's full ensemble was performing to just the four horns plus rhythm section.

The original Baritone Saxophone solo is written out for Trombone and the Clarinet solo is also written (both include chords for improvisation).

Features the Soprano Saxophone trio-soli (written out here for Clarinet, Soprano Sax and muted Trumpet).

Tempo marking calls for a much slower pace than in Ellington's original in order to get across the "sexiness" of the harmonies and lead lines.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
