"As Kingfishers Catch Fire" is an a capella SATB (divisi) setting of the beautiful sonnet by 19th century Catholic poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. First half of piece homophonic, followed by an imitative contrapuntal section. Last section uses same music as opening. Very tonal with some jazz chords: dominant 7 and 9. Some sections and cadences use divisi voicing. 3 minutes long, perfect for Anthem.
